We stayed two nights here in September for our first trip to Salem, and we are already planning another trip! The location is quieter down at the water, but still super close to everything you want to see. (Check out the House of Seven Gables!) We had an issue with the first room when we checked in and the Manager, Michael, resolved it quickly and professionally. On a week long road trip from NJ to ME, this was by far the most comfortable place we stayed. Highly recommend!

You truly feel like you’re in the heart of it all. But what makes this hotel stand out even more is the amazing hospitality staff. From the moment we arrived, everyone we encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely eager to help. The front desk team goes above and beyond to make check-in smooth and stress-free, offering great recommendations and local tips. Housekeeping was attentive and friendly, keeping everything spotless without ever feeling intrusive. Every interaction felt personal, thoughtful, and sincere — the kind of service that turns a great stay into an unforgettable one. Clean rooms, incredible staff, and an unbeatable location… this hotel checks every box. Thanks again for an amazing experience!
The Main Stay Social located at the Salem Waterfront Hotel is simply the best. Apart from the food and service I want to tell you that their staff, particularly Brianna & Sasha were amazing. There was an incident where someone had an allergic reaction and Sasha and Brianna couldn't be more helpful.. they sprung into action, called an ambulance, provided incredible help making the person comfortable and safe while providing him with everything he needed while help arrived.. and when help arrived they both didn't stop there. They continued to be completely attentive. Two amazing people... a very sincere thanks to you both... On the restaurant side, the food is incredible, the cocktail are made right and are delicious... and the service is incredible.. they got it all right here!
My room was spacious and clean, immediately upon entry! The bed was super comfortable, the room service was quick and accessible, and the fridge came in handy! Plus, I loved all the towels we got. All of the staff were kind and inviting. So thankful for our stay.
Comfortable spacious rooms. Half-fast cleanliness and mediocre staff encounters. We did enjoy our breakfast at the small restaurant. Salem is a small city and staying anywhere is convenient as location comes. I would stay here if I were unable to find other accommodations.
My husband and I have stayed here 3 years in a row now and every time it exceeds our expectations. The rooms are spacious, bathrooms very clean, best beds in any hotel we have ever stayed at, and it is very quiet. Perfect location to all of the shops/restaurants/attractions in the hub of Salem and right by The Pickering Wharf which has some of the best shops and restaurants in town. It is conveniently close to everything so you can drop off all your goodies and have a clean bathroom to use so you don’t have to find one out and about. The hotel restaurant (Mainstay Social) is one of our favorite restaurants in Salem and best room service too. *See my review on their page* This is in our opinion the best hotel in Salem and we will continue to stay here for years to come.
Everyone at this hotel is amazing The location is close to everything for walking and if you can’t make a walk they have a car that will take you. The rooms were spacious and clean. If we ever make it back to Salem we will definitely be staying here. The restaurant food was delicious and the wait staff was the nicest in town
We stayed here for three nights. The entire hotel was clean and our king suite was spacious. All the front desk staff were very kind as well as the restaurant staff. Great drinks at the bar. We stayed during the off season so it was pretty quiet which was great for us! Very convenient location. If we come back to Salem we know where we will be staying!
